A plate with scalloped rim, decorated in 'famille rose enamels and gilding. The centre of the plate has been over-decorated possibly in England with a Chinoiserie figure holding a banner with apocryphal Chinese characters. It has been suggested to me that the over-decoration hides a coat of arms beneath, although this is not clearly visible. The border finely gilded and with panels of pink and red flora.

Condition: excellent.

Qianlong period (1736-1795).
