A blue and white Kraak porcelain dish decorated to the centre with a horseman and attendant on a jetty by a boat, mountains and a pagoda in the background. The border with lotus and cranes. The back with birds seated on peach branches.

Condition: excellent - a little kiln waste in the glaze at the bottom of the central medallion. No chips, cracks or restoration.

Provenance: from a private UK collection.

A similar dish is discussed in
Kraak Porcelain by Maura Rinaldi, p77 where she writes: "... pieces with the heron-lotus border and the pagoda motif in the centre are extremely rare."

Jiajing/Wanli period, 1565-1600.
