Delft plate with Japanese decoration



A blue and white Delft earthenware 'pancake' plate decorated with a scene of a boy fishing from a boat watched by other figures. Marked with the painter's mark for Willem van der Kool who was active at the 'De Drie Porceleyne Flessen' factory in Delft between 1702-1716.
This decoration is a direct copy of late 17th century Japanese examples. The last image is of such a dish from the Nangawara kilns, Arita, circa 1680-1700.

Condition: some rim chips and a hairline crack from the rim.
