'Love Chase' plate, Kangxi

A blue and white plate decorated with a hunting scene, otherwise known as the 'Love Chase', the border with interlocking lotus flowers. Marked to the back with the six character mark for Chenghua within a double circle, the border with single flowers within moulded panels. This is a particularly fine example of this type of plate. Both the strength of colour and quality of the painting are unusually good.
